Students interested in a military career should consider taking the ASVAB the morning of April 18th in the Lecture Room. If you are interested in taking the ASVAB this spring, please sign up in Student Services. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Lis.
Hey Whips! Are you looking for a great way to get involved and provide an invaluable service to your community? On April 19th, HHS is hosting its final blood drive of the year. To donate, you must be 16 years old and have a signed parent consent form. Forms are available in Student Services and during all lunches next Tuesday. Students who donate 4 or more times throughout high school will receive a red cord to wear at graduation and will be eligible to apply for the Blood Donation Scholarship. Help save a life! Donate blood on the 19th!!
Attention seniors! College is right around the corner and Hampshire’s very own business department is giving away a $500 scholarship to our school’s brightest business student. To apply you must be a senior, have taken 3 or more business classes and have a B or better in each of those classes. You do not want to miss this opportunity. To apply, visit the student services scholarship page or see Mr. Beringer or Mrs. Lutes for further questions. Deadline is April 15th.

Hampshire Fire Academy
Attention students interested in a career such as firefighter, EMT, police office, or the military. The Hampshire Fire Department is holding a two-day field trip providing approved students an experience including firefighter duties, paramedic drills, and training exercises. Many of the activities are highly physical such as search and rescue, and emergency medical tasks. Be prepared to get sweaty and involved! The Hampshire Fire Academy will take place on April 13th and 14th. If you are interested please put your name on the signup sheet in Student Services. Do not delay. Sign up in Student Services today. NHS members: We will have our next MORNING meeting tomorrow. The AFTERNOON meeting will be held on Thursday, April 13th. Both meetings will be held in room 1202. Please remember to bring your postcards for Send Kids the World! See you at one of the meetings!
Attention prom goers. Check out the walls on second and third floors by the stair for details on time, meals, etc. We will continue to add to the wall as prom draws closer. Also, do you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions? If so, see Mrs. Hopley in room 1107 by Tuesday, April 11th to request a special plate for prom if you have not already done so.
Going to prom? Help us determine the candidates for the 2017 prom court. Prom court nominations will take place online beginning today and ending next Monday, April 17th. In order to nominate someone for the court, you need to do the following: 1. Access the voting/nomination page from the HHS website. 2. Use your school email to vote. (You may only vote once) 3. Submit your answers. Happy voting!
Attention Seniors! Two new scholarships just came in! HHS Athletic Booster Scholarship and the Hampshire Township Historical Society. The Hampshire Township Historical Society Scholarship is brand new this year. You must reside in Hampshire Township and will be pursing higher education. Both applications are now available in Student Services.
Hampshire Booster Club Scholarship
The Hampshire Whip-purs Athletic Booster Club Scholarship form is now available online on the booster club website (www.hhsbooster.weebly.com), and in the guidance office. Scholarships are awarded each school year to one female and one male senior athlete in the amount of $1,000 each. Applicants must be a senior, have played at least one varsity sport, have a 2.5 unweighted GPA and plan to attend an accredited college, community college, or a trade or technical school as a full-time student in the fall of 2017. Scholarship applications are due by Friday, May 5, 2017.
Congratulations to the varsity softball team for defeating Schaumburg on Friday by a score of 13-8. The team was led on offense by Peyton DeChant and Renee Malecke. Emily Egger and Jasmine Lopez combined for the win in the circle.
Spanish Club meets before school on Thursday, April 13th in 1105. Remember it is a late start day so come at 9:10, or whenever your transportation gets you here…we’ll be waiting! Come join us to finalize t-shirts, plan our year-ending events, and to plan for the year to come! See Sra. Konajeski in room 1105 with any questions! See you there!
Celebrate Student Council’s Eggs-travagant Spring Sale! Send an egg to a friend for a dollar, or send a bunny to your hunny for $3! Look for the Student Council table at lunch today and tomorrow to purchase these gifts!
On Saturday, boys track took 4th at the Cary-Grove Invitational. Sophomore Tommy Croissant pole-vaulted to a first place effort and a new personal record at 11’0”. Jake Oury, who led the entire race, won the 800 in a time of 2:00.70. Will Matushek was the third Whip-Pur to place first, crossing the finish line first in the 1600 in a time of 4:30.60. Hampshire’s 1600 relay team of Jake Oury, Jackson Wozniak, Sheldon McKittrick and Michael Wozniak ended the meet with a first place effort in a time of 3:34.00. Nice job fellas!
The Lady Tracksters were back in action at Huntley on Saturday. Highlights in the field events came from Alex Brakeall, taking 6th in Discus and Paige Kern gaining a personal record of over a foot in the Triple Jump. On the track, the 4 by 800 meter relay team of Paige Kern, Stella Oury, Marie Mayer, and Sophia Oury finished 5th, Sophia Oury finished 4th in the mile, and Marie Mayer medaled in the 800 meter run, finishing 2nd out of 20 of the best in the area. Well done, girls!
Attention all Tri-M members—your next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 12th at 7AM in the auditorium. If you cannot make it to the morning meeting, there will be another meeting after school Wednesday in the orchestra room. See you there!
