HAMPSHIRE HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Reminder Whips!  Testing is tomorrow, October 11th.  Only Freshmen and Juniors will be in attendance.  9th and 11th graders will arrive on the regular morning bus, and testing will begin at 7:30AM.  Bells, musical minute, and announcements will not be sounded after the pledge.  Lunch will be served at 12:05 and buses will leave HHS at 12:35PM. Get a good night’s rest and make sure to arrive on time!

FCA

There will be an FCA whole group huddle this coming Thursday before school at 6:45 in Mr. Braker’s Room #3007.  Hope to see you there

Girls Golf

Attention all members of the girls golf team:  Equipment turn-in will take place this Thursday, Oct. 12th from 7:05 – 7:20 am or from 3:00-3:15 pm at the athletic cage.  You must bring your emptied bag, clean shirt (in a clear zip-lock baggie with your name on the baggie), and varsity girls must have a clean rain jacket to turn into Coach Ellett.  Please be prompt to either turn-in time.

Hampshire Police Explorers

Interested in a career in law enforcement? Come join the Hampshire Police Explorers. This month’s meeting will be Thursday, October 12th, in the Lecture Hall, Room #2301, after school.

Literary Magazine Club

Anyone interested in being a part of the literary magazine club?  There will be an informational meeting in Ms. Coleman’s room 2107 on Friday, October 13th at 7:10 a.m.  See you there!

PBIS Challenge

The PBIS team is challenging students to be on time and present for each day of school during the month of October!  Students who meet this challenge will be put into a raffle and will be able to choose their prize!  A few options are gift cards, DJ for the musical minute, whip-pur parking for a month and so many more!  Be make sure to take your vitamins, get a good night’s rest to ensure you’re at school, on time every day! 

PSAT/NMSQT

Freshmen and juniors, please note that the room assignments for the freshman PSAT testing and the junior NMSQT testing are posted in the Commons, by the first floor locker banks, and by the second floor locker banks.  On October 11th, you will report to these rooms.  Remember that you will need to bring #2 pencils, your school id, and your own calculator.  No electronic devices, food or beverages are allowed in the testing rooms.

Senior Portraits

CLASS OF 2018! Calling all SENIORS, Last call for Senior Portraits! Lifetouch will be here for the final time this year to take your Senior Portrait. This is ONLY for seniors who did not take their senior photo during the summer or on September 5th. If you want to be in the 2017-2018 yearbook, come to the Auditorium Lobby during your lunchtime or ASP class from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 12th. THIS WILL BE THE LAST PHOTO SESSION AT HHS FOR YOUR SENIOR PHOTO!

Senior T-shirts

Hey seniors!  Want to design the senior class t-shirt?  Submit your artwork either by hand or digitally to Mr. Wozniak or any member of the senior class council by October 17th.  The top 4 designs will be voted on by the senior class and the winning designer will receive a free t-shirt. 

Soccer

In Soccer, your Whips defeated Cary Grove 2-0.  Goals for Hampshire were scored by Thomas Walker and Ryan Heileman.  Andrew Krajecki had 8 saves for the shutout!  Way to go, boys!

Spanish Club

Spanish Club meets this week!  We will discuss Día de los muertos activities so be sure to attend and share your input.  Due to testing, this meeting will now take place on Thursday, October 12th at 7AM in 1105.  Questions?  See Sra. Konajeski in room 1105 or our Haiku page.

Stress Reduction Group

Do any of the following sound like you? “I get so nervous on tests that I can’t focus.” “I need help in finding ways to reduce my stress.”  If so, you may be interested in participating in our Stress Reduction Group.  We will meet once per week for 6 weeks and learn how to identify what stresses you out and give you coping strategies to help reduce your stress.  If you would like to participate, see your counselor before October 13th.

Swim Fundraiser

Buona Beef in Algonquin will be hosting a fundraiser for the Jacobs/Hampshire Girls Swim Team tonight!  They will donate 20% of all sales incurred as a result of your participation.  A flyer must be presented when ordering and can be picked up in the Athletic office.  Thanks for your support!

Volleyball

Whip-pur fans, join us tonight on our Home court for an exciting Volleyball competition as we take on the Huntley Red Raiders. We need your cheering and crowd support!  JV and sophomore games start at 5pm, Varsity and Freshmen games follow, starting at approximately 6pm.  Hope to see you there!

Freshmen Volleyball

Congratulations to the Freshmen Volleyball Team on their 1st place finish in the Silver Bracket of the 16 team Burlington Central Invitational on Saturday. The Whip-purs defeated the Larkin Royals, South Elgin Storm, Grant Bulldogs, and River Forest-Trinity Blaze en route to the trophy.  They were led on the court by setters Cassie Castaneda, Lexi Kolakowski, & Cece Gonzales, outside hitters Sophia Abreu, Natalia Monterroso, & Jozlynn Lewerentz, middle hitters Kayleen Sese, Gianna Kramer, Maggie Randell, & Vanessa Rivera, and defensive specialists Ashley Garcia, Veronica Mayer, & Aliyah Andrade.
