AVID Book Drive

Attention all 3rd period classes! The Junior AVID class will be holding a gently used book drive starting tomorrow and ending next Tuesday!  It’s a quick time frame, but we hope to have some success with this!  We are hosting a Literacy Night for kindergarteners through fifth graders at Gary D. Wright next Wednesday and would like to have books to give the students. The 3rd period class who brings in the most books will win donuts for the whole class!  Thank you in advance for supporting our project!

Hampshire Booster Club Scholarship

The Hampshire Whip-purs Athletic Booster Club Scholarship form is now available online on the booster club website and in the guidance office.  Scholarships are awarded each school year to one female and one male senior athlete in the amount of $1,000 each.  Applicants must be a senior, have played at least one varsity sport, have a 2.5 unweighted GPA and plan to attend an accredited college, community college, or a trade or technical school as a full-time student in the fall of 2017.  Scholarship applications are due by Friday, May 5, 2017.

College Fair

Huntley High School will be hosting a College Fair on Monday, April 24th from 6:00-8:30.  There will be over 125 colleges and universities! Hope to see you there!

Caps & Gowns Pickup

Attention Seniors:  Herff Jones will deliver caps and gowns on Monday, April 24th during lunch periods in the Commons.  Bring your balance due to pick up your cap and gown. Herff Jones does not accept personal checks at delivery. Please call 815-756-4743 to pay by credit card, or bring cash on delivery day. If you did not order your cap and gown you may purchase one on April 24th. The cost is $60.00.

Deaf Can Do It Community Service Day

The 6th annual Deaf Can Do it Community Service Day is May 1st!  The NIA Deaf Program is focusing on community service to the Hampshire Lion’s Club.  We are collecting used glasses, glasses cases, and hearing aids to donate to the Hampshire Lion’s Club. We will be collecting them during 6th period lunch until  April 30th.  You can also drop them off at the NIA office located near the nurse's office.  Please help us donate glasses and hearing aids to those in need!  Thank you!

Music Parents Scholarship

The Hampshire Music Parents organization annually awards scholarship money to one or more graduating seniors who have demonstrated involvement in the music department at HHS. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize these efforts and accomplishments of those involved in the music program and to assist financially in the applicant’s continued education at an accredited college or university. The scholarship application is available in student services - deadline for return is Friday, April 28. Please note:  Applicants need not be majoring in music in order to qualify for this scholarship.

One-Acts

IT’S FREE!  Now that I have your attention please come out and join the drama club members this weekend on Friday and Saturday as 4 HHS students produce their own work. Justin Hernandez, Owen Tait, Ethan Dulaca, and Cassie Thompson have written and directed their own shows. The casts are littered with talented HHS students and each show runs 20-25 minutes. On Friday you will get to see all four productions and then on Saturday we will have a second showing of Owen and Cassie’s shows. Come out and see the work your talented peers have put together.  Did I mention it is free?

PBIS Spirit Day

Hey Whips!  Wear your spirit wear tomorrow and help your class win the spirit trophy at our May assembly!!!  During all lunches tomorrow, PBIS will be giving out spirit tickets to all students wearing Hampshire attire.  Add your ticket to your classes’ ticket box to help your class win.  Good luck!!!

Become an IHSA Official

Attention seniors, if you are interested in earning money by becoming an IHSA official, you can take the test for free. See Mr. Hicks for material to allow you to register for free. Most officials earn $60 per game, what a great college job to make extra cash!

Boys Tennis

The JV Boys Tennis team brought back a 6-1 victory from Crystal Lake Central last Tuesday evening. The number one doubles team of Ben Steuber and Josh Milan continued to improve and came away with another key match win. Abdul Kahn also took advantage of his chance to play second singles, coming away with convincing match victory. The Whips next play this Saturday at the Freshmen/Sophomore Invite in Crystal Lake. Wish them luck if you see them!

Senior T-Shirts

Senior T-shirts will be on sale during lunch periods 4, 5, and 6 on Thursday, Friday, and Monday. Senior T-shirts are $10 each! If you have lunch 7th period, find Ms. Karpowicz or Ms. Wolak to place your order.
